High 5 Eventsí 7th Dubai Corporate Games End On High Note

More than 2300 participants gathered at the American University in Dubai over the weekend to compete in the 2012 Dubai Corporate Games. The event is now one of the biggest corporate sports and teambuilding events in the UAE. The employees/athletes representing 43 multinationals and local groups competed in 38 different competitions over the 2 days.


Competitions included: football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, swimming, running, golf, cricket, squash, table tennis, badminton, dragon boat racing, tug of war, backgammon and PlayStation.


The American University in Dubai was the main venue for the event, with just a couple of competitions taking place off campus: the dragon boat race at the nearby Internet City lake, the golf competition at the Emirates Golf Club, and cricket at the Wellington School.


After 2 long days of effort and sweat, Pepsi International were crowned “best overall performing company”, dethroning Leo Burnett, last year’s top guns and the 2012 3rd best performing.  AUD’s team finished in 2nd  position, with The Choueiri Group, Menacom, General Electric and HP, in joint 4th. “We have been training seriously for this event and it paid off”, said Bilal Khalid of the winning team. “This is a great event. Our team really enjoyed it and are looking forward to next year’s”, added Sonya Patel from 1st time participants Fly Dubai. 


The Dubai Corporate Games is a High 5 Events initiative started in 2006. The event has grown significantly since with a record 2350 participants in 2012. The Games are organized in partnership with Title Sponsors The Choueiri Group and in association with AUD. The event was sponsored by The Address Hotels & Resorts, Barclays, Pepsi, Tecom, Aramex, Clear, Lipton, Al Aan TV, Nescafe, Arabian Business & TimeOut Dubai, Sport 360. The event is held under the patronage of the Dubai Sports Council.
